and therefore cannot provide figures on museum attendance
or on the number of museums in the world or in a specific

Group on Museum Statistics (EGMUS)
The
European Group on Museum Statistics (EGMUS) was created
in June 2002 as a result from the merging of two groups
- the Eurostat Museum Working Group and the Institut für
Museumskunde (IfM) of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin-Preußischer
Kulturbesitz group. EGMUS is coordinated by Germany, France,
The Netherlands and Luxembourg. It consists of 25 countries
and two international organisations – UNESCO and Eurostat
(Statistical Office of the European Communities) also participate
in its projects.
