AVICOM is composed of two working groups. The AVICOM Working Group on Photography is devoted to the still image, the basis of all audiovisual products. This working group is currently in the process of compiling information for a thematic directory of art and documentary photograph collections in museums and cultural establishments the world over. The AVICOM Working Group on Multimedia is devoted to the moving image and covers such areas as cinema, video, multimedia and the Internet. It offers evening workshops for students and the general public in order to introduce them to new technologies. This working group also organises the International Audiovisual Festival on Museums and Heritage (FAIMP) which promotes and disseminates multimedia products created by museums and cultural heritage institutions, and awards prizes for the most original productions. The working group publishes a catalogue of the multimedia products, museums Internet sites and films presented at the FAIMP.

AVICOM comprend deux groupes de travail. Le Groupe de travail sur la photographie est consacré àl'image fixe, base de tout produit audiovisuel. Il élabore un répertoire thématique des collections de photographies d'art et de photos documentaires provenant de musées et d'établissements culturels du mode entier. Le Groupe de travail sur le multimédia est consacré à l'image animée : cinéma, vidéo, multimédia, Internet. Il propose aux étudiants et au grand public des soirées d'initiation à ces nouvelles technologies et organise le Festival Audiovisuel International "Musée et Patrimoine" (FAIMP). Le FAIMP fait connaître et diffuse les produits multimédia réalisés par les musées et les institutions patrimoniales et décerne des prix aux réalisations les plus originales. Enfin, il publie un catalogue des multimédias, sites Internet de musées et films présentés au cours du FAIMP.
