Money and Banking Museums (ICOMON). Money and Banking:

Proceedings
of the 9th Annual Meeting of the International Committee
of Money and Banking Museums, which was held in Beijing.
This meeting provided an opportunity for Chinese museum
professionals to describe the situation of money and
banking museums in China. Chinese currencies, banks,
regional currencies and the blending of monetary cultures
were also discussed. Museums specialising in numismatics
are relatively recent in China: it was only in 1982
that the China Numismatic Society was founded.
But this field of research has expanded fast: the number
of numismatic museums has increased considerably over
the past ten years, and in 1992 the People's Bank of
China founded the China Numismatic Museum. |

of the 8th meeting of ICOMON in Barcelona, in 2001.
The first section of the work focuses on managing
numismatic heritage. The second section is about exhibiting
monetary history. Under the title "The Museum and
Society", part III tackles the subject of the relation
to the visitor, and presents various educational programmes
designed for the public of numismatic collections.
Finally, part IV presents various research projects
in the field of numismatics, such as a European project
called Euromint, an examination of the new law known
as the Treasure Act in England and Wales and the Portable
Antiquities Scheme and its impact on regional museums,
an analysis of the introduction of the euro and its
impact on money circulation in Europe, and research
on erosion and conservation of current gold and silver
coins in China.
Cet
ouvrage réunit les contributions présentées lors de
la 8e réunion de l'ICOMON à Barcelone, en 2001. Les
actes sont divisés en quatre parties. La première
porte sur la gestion du patrimoine numismatique. La
deuxième, intitulée "Présenter l'histoire monétaire",
contient quatre textes qui traitent d'expositions
organisées dans des cabinets ou collections numismatiques.
Sous le titre "Le Musée et la société", la troisième
partie s'intéresse aux relations avec le visiteur
et présente divers projets de recherche dans le domaine
de la numismatique : le projet européen Euromint ;
une étude du récent Treasure Act (loi sur les trésors),
applicable en Angleterre et au Pays de Galles, et
du Portable Antiquities Scheme (plan pour les antiquités
transportables), dont on examine l'impact sur les
musées régionaux ; une analyse de l'entrée en vigueur
de l'euro et de ses effets sur la circulation monétaire
en Europe ; et une recherche sur l'érosion et la conservation
des pièces d'or et d'argent ayant cours en Chine.
