Welcome to ICOM UK

ICOM UK is a non-profit, non-governmental organization representing almost one thousand museum professionals in Britain, we are the UK national committee of ICOM, the international organisation of over 21,000 museum professionals across 146 countries. 

The ICOM network operates through 116 national committees and through 30 international specialist interest committees and 6 regional bodies.  It has 60 affiliated organisations including the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Organisation for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM). 

ICOM is dedicated to the improvement and advancement of the world's museums and the museum profession as well as the preservation of cultural heritage.  ICOM works to establish professional and ethical standards for all museum activities, promoting training and raising public awareness through a truly global network.  ICOMs strategy is based around generating and disseminating knowledge, being pro active and inclusive.  The ICOM Secretariat headquarters are based in the UNESCO building in Paris.  ICOM UK is a member of the UK National Commission for UNESCO Culture Committee.
